Design Talk:

- Emily’s Blanket is almost done, though at the time you’re reading this it will release tomorrow! Stay tuned ;)

- Spider using Wasted Yarns yarn...big flop for the first try. I will be trying again this week!

Emily of @makingmatteson, one of my dear IG friends, shared something new that she had started doing, and I thought it was so powerful.

1 Corinthians 13 is also known as the “love” chapter. I don’t mean a lovely little Christmas Hallmark movie, I mean what IS love. It is one of the most beautiful chapters of the entire Bible, and one of my absolute favorite.

Emily shared that she had substituted her name for the word “love” in verses 4-7. When I read her passage that she shared in her stories, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and the truth! So much so, that I responded to her story thanking her, and have continued to do this little task myself. I encourage you to do it as well!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor 13:4-7

Now, I want you to write again, but this time, substitute the word “love” for your name.

Amy Kate is patient; Amy Kate is kind. She does not envy, she does not boast, and she is not proud. Amy Kate does not dishonor others, she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, and she keeps no record of wrongs. Amy Kate does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. She always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I want this to be true of me. THIS is my life goal. Yes, I have other goals on earth, but this is what I want to be known for. I want to uphold these truths!

Lastly, substitute the word “love” for I.

I am patient. I am kind. I do not envy. I do not boast. I am not proud. I do not dishonor others, and I am not self-seeking. I am not easily angered, and I keep no record of wrongs done to me, or anyone else. I do not delight in evil, instead I rejoice in the truths of the Lord. I always protect, I always trust, I always have hope, and I always persevere by His strength, not by my own.

How powerful is that? That should be our goal as Christians.

But remember, we are not perfect! We are overwhelmed with undeserved grace. God is always, always there for you, waiting with open arms. Let Him hold you, not the world. The world is breakable, and is breaking...but He is unshakeable.

I hope this has been encouraging for you! Remember, that is always my goal with each devotion ;)

Until next time,

Amy Kate
