Devotion

I’ve started going through 1 Corinthians with the Small Group I lead through Church, and it has been so beautiful already! I specific verse stuck out to me, so I thought I would talk about it for a couple minutes here as well.

1 Corinthians 1:7 says, “Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ.”

There are endless things I could say and discuss regarding this verse, and that is one of the reasons I think it is so powerful. That said, the part that specifically stook out to me in this season of life is “therefore you do not lack”. That is it. We don’t lack!

So often, I get stuck feeling that my desires in life are God given, yet is isn’t providing or fulfilling them. That’s the wrong outlook! We’re called to let Jesus be our ALL. In Him, we lack no good thing.

It is OK to have desires, goals, and dreams. Pray about them. Ask for them. Align them with His will and plans. Trust His timing. But don’t feel that God is obligated to provide them. He is so good, and through Him, because of Him, we lack no good thing.
