Static Yarn Review
Welcome to another yarn review:
If you’re new around here, let me introduce you to another yarn review! I love to share and review different yarns with y’all, and let you know my honest thoughts. As always, I have an accompanying YouTube video to go along with this post that goes into deep detail as well! Be sure to check that out by clicking the picture below, or the link at the bottom of the page.
The Yarn:
KnitPicks/WeCrochet (sister companies!) Static is one of my all time favorite yarns ever. I used it to knit one of my very first pair of socks, and have loved it ever since. I used it to knit each of my family members a pair of socks for Christmas (five pairs total), featuring a different color for each of them. I recently used the colorway Seascape to knit a simple beach-vibe vanilla pair of socks, and those are the ones I share in this video!
What I like to make with it:
I always think it is helpful to give advice on what to make with a certain yarn. Sometimes it can be hard to choose a project, whether it is simply because of indecisive-ness, or just not knowing what that yarn would work best for.
Static is specifically designed for knitting socks. The wool and nylon blend make it durable yet soft, and the spin helps minimize the pilling. It *does* still pill, but honestly that doesn’t bother me. A project that becomes pilled over time shows that the item is loved and used! Nothing is better than seeing evidence of your hard work paying off :)
Other notes:
Splitting is not an issue with this yarn! If you’re knitting socks, you will typically use small and sharp needles. While splitting happens every now and then for me, it definitely isn’t often enough to be frustrating or slow me down.
The colors are SO fun. This yarn is self-striping, but in a very unique way. The stripes aren’t even, so you rarely know what to expect!
SO soft and durable. I just love the way this yarn feels. It isn’t scratchy in the least, yet I can just feel the durability.
Should you buy it?
There are so many things you could make with this yarn, but I would definitely recommend socks or a hat. If you enjoy using fingering weight yarn, I would 100% suggest trying it out. The price point is excellent, and 100 grams of yarn is enough to make just about anyone a full pair of socks...sometimes two pairs depending on the style!
Lastly, Static is featured in my own FREE Vanilla Sock Pattern, the Success Socks! This pattern is specifically designed for beginner sock knitters, so feel free to give it a try!
