Overcast Cowl | Free Crochet Pattern
This crocheted cowl features just one cake of yarn and beginner-friendly stitches! The perfect little last minute gift or instant-gratification project.
200g or 380 yards of any worsted weight yarn. Sample uses one cake of Hobbii Lollipop Melange in color #13
7.0mm crochet hook
Scissors, yarn needle
8 stitches and 4 rows = 2 inches in pattern
dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet
slst: slip stitch
FO: finish off

When finished, this cowl measures 14.5 inches wide and 48 inches in circumference.
Each ch 1 space counts as a stitch, as does the sc/dc sts.
The ch 3 at the beginning of the dc rows counts as a dc and a ch 1 space.
The ch 2 at the beginning of the sc rows counts as a sc and a ch 1 space.
Row 1: dc in the fourth ch from the hook, *ch 1, sk 1, dc in the next st* across.
Row 2: ch 2 and turn. *sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk 1* until you reach the ch 3 from the previous row, sc into the ch 3 space.
Row 3: ch 3 and turn. *dc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk 1* until you reach the ch 2 sp from the previous row, dc into the ch 2 space.
Row 4: ch 2 and turn. *sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk 1* until you reach the ch 3 from the previous row, sc into the ch 3 space.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until the cowl measures 48” your desired length.
Fold the cowl in half and slst the current row and foundation rows together.
Flip the cowl to the right side, so that the slip stitch seam is on the inside of the cowl.
Block the cowl, if desired, by pinning the cowl on blocking mats and spritzing with a spray bottle of water, then let it air dry.
