Efficient Blanket | Free Crochet Pattern

This crocheted blanket is the coziest thing ever and the perfect handmade addition to any living area. Have fun with stripes, color-blocking, or anything in-between with this beginner friendly pattern!



Materials

  • 4 hanks each of three different colors of WeCrochet Billow, or approximately 460 yards in each color of any size 5 bulky yarn. Sample uses Billow in Whisker, Tea Rose, and Tumeric

  • 1 hank of WeCrochet Billow in Natural (border), or 100 yards of any contrast color of the same yarn.

  • 10.00 mm crochet hook

  • Ruler, scissors, yarn needle


Gauge

8 stitches by 4 rows = 4 by 4 inches in double crochet, worked flat


Abbreviations

C1/2/3/4: Color 1, 2, 3, 4

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

sc: single crochet

ea: each

st(s): stitch(es)

slst: slip stitch

FO: finish off


Pattern Notes

  • Find the yarn featured in this pattern here.

  • The ch 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

  • Due to the nature of this yarn, it is likely that your blanket will grow considerably as the project gains weight. This is normal, and yields a beautifully drapey result, so don’t stress about it!

  • When finished, this blanket measures approximately 60 by 70 inches, stretched slightly due to weight.


Blanket

Using C1 (gray)

ch 102


Row 1: dc in the third ch from the hook, and in ea ch across. 100 sts


Rows 2-11: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across. 100 sts


Switch to C2 (pink)

Rows 12-34 : ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across. 100 sts


Switch to C3 (mustard)

Rows 35-57 : ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across. 100 sts


Switch to C1 (gray)

Rows 58-68 : ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across. 100 sts


FO, weave in all ends.


Border

Join C4 (white) to any stitch/space along any side of the blanket


Round 1: ch 1, sc evenly around the entire blanket. Place about 2 sc sts per row on the sides, and 1 sc st per st on the top/bottom. Place 3 sc sts in ea corner. slst to the first st to join.


Round 2: ch 1, sc in ea st around. Place 3 sc sts in ea corner. slst to the first st.


Finishing

Cut yarn and weave in any ends.
