Blossomed Cowl | FREE Crochet Pattern

This lacey cowl is the perfect accessory for Spring and Summer! Featuring cotton yarn and an intuitive yet engaging stitch pattern, this cowl will be a joy to create and wear!

  • One cake of Hobbii Dahlia Mixo, or 200g of another comparable #2 (fingering/sport weight) yarn. Sample uses Dahlia Mixo in color 07

  • Size 4.5 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors and a yarn needle

  • Ruler to check gauge

It is not necessary to achieve a certain gauge for this cowl. However, if you would like it to be the same dimensions as the sample I suggest checking.

5 ½ clusters and 8 rows = 4 inches

ch(s): chain(s)

dc: double crochet

sk: skip

st(s): stitch(es)

rem: remain(s)

*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks

[...]: work the instructions into the same stitch/chain

Pattern Notes

  • Check out the yarn this pattern was designed for here.

  • When finished, this cowl measures 18 inches wide and 42 inches in circumference.

ch 110

Row 1: [dc, ch 1, dc] into the 7th ch from the hook. *sk 3 chs, [dc 2, ch 1, dc 2] into the next ch, sk 3 chs, [dc, ch 1, dc] into the next ch* until 7 sts rem, sk 3 chs, [dc 2, ch 1, dc 2] into the next ch, sk 2, dc in the last ch.

Rows 2-80: ch 3 and turn. *[dc, ch1, dc] into the next ch 1 space, [dc 2, ch 1, dc 2] into the next ch 1 space* across, dc into the top of the ch 3 from the previous row.

If you would like your cowl to be shorter/longer simply work less/more rows.

Note: You can leave the “cowl” unseamed if you’d like, and wear it as a scarf or wrap!

To Join: ch 1 and turn. Fold the cowl in half, and slip stitch the previous row and the foundation row together. Work in every stitch/ch across.

f/o, and proceed to Finishing

Flip the cowl to the right side, so that the slip stitch seam is on the inside of the cowl.

Block the cowl, if desired, by pinning the cowl on blocking mats and spritzing with a spray bottle of water, then let it air dry.

Lastly, enjoy and cozy up in your new cowl! If desired, share it on Instagram using the #blossomedcowl and #thegracefultangle and tag @thegracefultangle! Don’t forget to tag the yarn company/dyer as well so they can see your beautiful work.
